Inventor David Elliott originally approached TBBplc for help in protecting and commercialising his clever invention.

Our Intellectual Property team conducted an extensive search and found that the idea was novel and had good scope for protection. We then considered it for market need and what we call 'product quality'. Satisfied of its commercial potential we offered David an agreement to help with seeking a route-to-market.
We presented the invention to companies within our Industrial Collaborator Network to gauge commercial interest. One of our closest partners snapped up the idea through a licensing agreement in 2006.
The product entered volume production earlier this year and has just gone on sale in the UK.
